iTunes crossfading bug October 22, 2006

Filed under: Apple — Tom @ 6:44 am

I was trying to jump around the end of a song to copy down what Fernando Martinez was saying, and the next song started to play. It was crossfading and I had jumped to the middle of the track, but Weird Al was still singing “You’re Pitiful”, and Fernando Martinez was still talking.

Basically, once a song starts to crossfade, jump to the middle of the track. Typically this will be when the next song’s title already shows up as playing. What will happen? Both songs will jump to that point in time, fighting with each other and eating your CPU. If you’re crap at it, bump the crossfade up to 12 seconds. I’ve done it on my mac, and a friend did it on his pc. He got it to work with 3+ songs at once, so you can really have some noise fun with this.

Nice work, iTunes.
